Located in a gorgeous location, the canal offers a great view of the surrounding landscape and of course; Ben Nevis. Superb place for a run, stroll or simply to get some fresh air.

We collected our cruiser from West Highland Cruising who gave us novices a great and welcome tuition on handling it. The cruiser was spacious, comfortable, clean and easy to handle. Cruising the canal (which combines a number of Lochs ) was much easier than using a narrow boat on English canals because it was wider and the lock gates (quite... More

We hired a cruiser from Laggan Locks and sailed north all the way to Inverness and then back down to Banavie before returning to Laggan to hand the boat back. The boat was plenty big enough for four of us and after a short steering course, we felt confident to take her on ourselves. Our tutor took us through the... More

Corpach is where the Caledonian Canal joins with the sea on the west coast, and the canal basin gives some great views over to Fort William, with Ben Nevis in the background. Other than picnic tables, car park (free) and toilets, there's not a lot here, but it's worth a stop for these beautiful views alone - especially at sunrise... More

The Caledonian Canal is full of history and, at the time, very innovative in its conception. Before going on a trip read into the history of the canal and the reason it was built.

Joined the barge, The Fingal for a weeks cruise on the Caledonian Canal along with three other couples, the barge was our accommodation whilst we were walking The Great Glen. The rooms were small but adequate and all ensuite, the crew were great and really made the holiday, the chef sent us off every morning with a hearty breakfast as... More
