Another brilliant course with CAG. Ross took 4 teenagers and 1 Dad on an epic tour up to the West of the Cairngorm car park. As usual, brilliant instruction and really great help with hiring kit etc. Despite the lack of snow this year, Ross ensured we had excellent bang-for-our-buck and we skied all day on lovely powder in glorious... I signed up for the 3-day Winter Skills course in late February, having corresponded earlier with Liam for advice. And 3 amazing days I had in Aviemore with 3 very experienced and encouraging instructors: Simon, Will and Liam. For a beginner hiker from Downunder, where snow and mountains don't really exist, this is extreme sports! I was very glad to... More

I completed a two-day Winter Walking Skills course with Liam, the instructor. It was a great course, covering preparation and planning as well as the skills required to go on the mountains in winter. I am now confident that I have the knowledge to recognise the dangers and to avoid mishaps while still enjoying a day's walking in winter. I... More

Easy booking with Liam, good communication. Day out with Instructor Rachel who was fantastic, really knowledgable, good fun and the whole day was spent learning as well as getting out into the Gorms. Ratio 1 instructor to three participants which was great, good equipment to borrow if needed. Would definitely book again with this company as the day rate to... More

I've just completed a 4 day Winter Skills Course with Cairngorm Adventure Guides. Liam was very flexible in making my booking as it was last minute. Both Ross and Rachael were fantastic guides who were very approachable and made the course a very enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend anyone who is looking to brush up on their winter skills to... More

My brother and I booked this over Christmas, I was booked for 2 days and my brother stayed for 3. Right from the start the communication from CAG was brilliant, keeping us in the loop with everything and making sure we were prepped and equipped for the trip. When we arrived (in slight disarray, owing to some car issues) we... More

Having had my original winter skills course cancelled with a different company, Liam of Cairngorm Adventure guides kindly placed me onto their women only winter skills course the day before this was due to run back in January. I hadn't set out to attend a ladies version of the course but was really happy with my experiences and actually think... More

Just done my first winter skills course (3 days) and it was fantastic. Weather was a challenge but this did not prevent any of us achieving what we wanted to. Thanks to Ross who was an excellent instructor. I would strongly recommend Liam and his team at Cairngorm Adventure Guides to anyone who wishes to gain knowledge or simply brush... More

Great day out, learned a lot about winter walking; good footing, crampons, ice axe, avalanche awareness and mountain safety. Liam is a great instructor and would highly recommend to anyone who wishes to continue their hill walking throughout winter.

A great week in the Cairngorms learning the key skills required for heading out to the mountains in winter. Plenty of time for sliding about in the snow and practicing the use of crampons and ice axe. Plus on a more sensible note, vital navigation skills, avalanche awareness and what to do if it all goes a bit pear shaped.... More
