Steam through the stunning Scottish Highlands in style. Our steam engines take you on a very special trip through the Cairngorms National Park as you travel between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill. Why not make your trip extra special with one of our dining on board options: Light Lunch offers soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee; Afternoon Tea has some sandwiches, scones with jam and cream followed by some delicious cakes; or enjoy a full three course Sunday Lunch or Dinner. Why not upgrade to First Class to enjoy a meal in one of our compartments, finely decorated in it's own tartan, with vintage British Rail mirrors and luggage racks inside.Split your trip up with a visit to Boat of Garten to explore some fantastic walk trails or bring your bike on board to explore the great cycle routes in the area. See if you can beat the train back from Broomhill on your bike!We are also taking part in the Great Railway Treasure Hunt 2013, so there's plenty for the kids to do on the trip!

We did the first class afternoon tea ride and I was disappointed with the experience. In first class you are in your own compartment which is nice but the first class carriage is located between the standard class coach and the restaurant car which means there's a never ending stream of people walking up and down outside your compartment. On... More

I phoned on the Saturday to see if train was running on the Sunday. The man I spoke to seemed nice enough and gave me all the info I thought I needed. Unfortunately, because he told me I didn't need to book I went along with my 3 grandchildren (60miles) to be told by the woman in the booking place... More

Not been here since we had the children & visited 'Thomas the Tank' ! Really pleased went 2nd April as this was before Easter holidays got into full swing, so was quiet. Memories flooding back of when youngster & using these trains & carriages. Guards van too of cycling as teenager to other places in SCOTLAND. Also helped bring a... More

Went on a cold March day, it was a diesel train as I was a week too early for the steam train, and found the trip to be quite one dimensional. The scenery is quite boring as the rail line mainly passes through trees and there is not a lot to see. When we arrived at Boat of Garten the... More

We joined the mince pie and mulled wine service (return) from Aviemore. The main aim was to experience the steam railway, which was brilliant. If there would be one criticism, it would be the food service on board. The staff were great, but the food was basic but expensive. If the service had some more 'in-keeping' options or higher quality... More

Whilst staying nearby, we decided to visit. Adult prices were fair and under 5's were free. We purchased our tickets on the day for the afternoon journey. Plenty of photo opportunities available during the journey and at the stops along the way. The guard allowed our daughter to wear his hat and punch our tickets, a nice touch, he was... More

We took three kids on the Santa express and it was amazing! The kids loved it, we loved it. All of staff were friendly and helpful. Santa was brilliant and the gifts were great 😀
