Well worth the twisty drive 5 miles off the beaten track. The views over to the islands etc are amazing. You can only imagine what it must be like in bad weather. A place for birdwatching or just good old fashioned sightseeing as we did.

Had a wee walk around this beautiful cliff top. Most northern tip of mainland U.K. with a history including WW2 lookout post for Scappa Flow. Can see Old Man of Hoy on a clear day and right up to Cape Wrath. One of my favourite spots to visit - even if it is a 6 hour drive from home!

Breath taking views. Great seeing a working lighthouse. Very cold in winter so make sure you wrap up.

Great views out to Hoy and the Orkney Islands, and of the surrounding countryside. Shame the lighthouse was'nt open at the time.

Really cool but remote drive to Dunnet Head. Lovely views when there and lots of sea birds to see. Not sure I would enjoy the visit if the weather had been bad.

Well worth a visit- good paths and fantastic views. Weather was wild but this added to the experience. Surprised to find that this was the most northerly point of mainland U.K. - great views over to Orkney

This is nothing less than spectacular. The winding 5 mile single track road over rough moorland to the lighthouse is an experience in itself. On occasion you might journey through 4 seasons' worth of weather, enjoying the coastal views on the way and close up contact with shaggy ginger Highland cows, as well as the opportunity to explore the surrounding... Despite the wind and rain still good place to visit and great place for bird watching. Single track road to get to it so be prepared for a very stop start journey but that part is only a short distance think it took me 20 or so mins when I came off the 'main' road. So if you like scenery... More

An excellent view of the most northerly point and the surrounding coastline. You can see the Orkney Isles from there and it is a very clean beach with clear sea water. Not far from Thurso so it's a great place to visit if you are in the area.
