Like a lot of people this castle was on our list of must sees when we were headed out to the Isle of Skye. Lots of other tourists there at the same time as us and they were very busy but it wasn't chaotic at all. The staff is very friendly and informative and they have a great gift shop... More

This castle is privately owned and at the same time open to public, which make it special as the caretaker of this castle make it a living building. If you're travelling to Skye on land this is a castle you shouldn't miss. There is a big parking facility there and I believe many tour would stop by here. The castle... More

The castle is a 20th-century creation, built on the ruins of a mediaeval castle, on an island in a loch. Staff friendly, informative. The place is in a very scenic area and the grounds are nice to have a walk around, nearby Lock makes it the beautiful castle I have ever seen.

One of the best castles that we've visited. Probably because it was reconstructed, everything is in impeccable state which makes for a really interesting visit. If you are not a history buff, still visit for the scenery though. Gotta be located in the most serene setting. Its strategic location makes for an easy stopover on the way to Skye or... More

No pictures inside, by absolutely fabulous. It makes me want to win the lottery and build/ restore a place like this... minus the centuries of history needed to do it right. Would make a great wedding spot if I could find a cute Scots redhead to make that happen...

We arrived early on a very clear fall day. The scenery was gorgeous. Such a beautiful castle, we toured the ouside as well as the inside, where you are not allowed to take any pictures. This castle has been built back up from its poor state of destruction in the early 1900s and is just amazing. I would highly suggest... More

Yes, this is a tourist spot and if you're in the area it is hard not to stop here. That said, it is extremely picturesque on its small island. Also a reason for being a location for "Highlander" or even James Bond. The island has seen it's fair share of battles and the castle that stood there were demolished in... More

This has always been one of my favorite castles, and was glad to finally be able to see it up close. Not only if the castle beautiful, the view itself is amazing.

It was not until we realized that this castle had been rebuilt in the late 1800's how much we were impressed by it. The owner did an amazing job of re-creating it over many years. We were there at low tide, the next day we passed by at high tide and what a difference. Well worth the visit!
