Uig has that end of the world feel (the road dead ends soon after here) and the light is spectacular. The flat sands are a great place to run the energy out of the dogs.

I was lucky to stay here for a couple of nights. The camp site facilities are exellent particularly when one considers the cost of £2 per night. This is the sort of place one dreams of and can't believe it is actually real when you...More

This was sort of nice to happen upon, but it's not a historic ruin and so just represents the chess piece that was found nearby.

I have given Uig sands 5 stars because I like isolated uncrowded beaches that stretch on for what seems like eternity. Yes we did visit on a wonderful sunny warm late September day but I am guessing I would still award this place 5 stars...More

Stayed in Uig for a week and just loved the beaches at Reef, Cliff and Uig. Miles and miles of beautiful white sand, great sand dunes too. It's where the Lewis Chessmen were found back in the 1800's. Ample parking, picnic benches, outside tap for...More

Probably one of my favourite beaches. When the tide is out it extends the beautiful white sandy beach extends for miles. We "wild" camped here for the night (£2pp to the Grazing committee). The facilities were basic and clean and perfect for a comfortable night...More

Words cannot explain how beautiful this beach is. It's enormous and took us nearly 2 hours to walk around. Acres of flat, white sands and shallow waters with adequate free parking and toilets. I could have stayed all day

Beautiful beach, probably the biggest on the Isle of Lewis. When the tide is low, you can walk far into the sea. You can even walk to the neighboring beach.

We stayed last night and it wasn't a problem. There is a hill to the left which maybe makes it a little sheltered.

There is a small campsite but not very well advertised. You turn down at the the sign for "beach and toilets" right down the road to the bottom. There are facilities like toilet shower drinking water although I didn't use... More
