- valandkarl228 contributionsAnother wonderful Aqueduct Trip on the Saint Michael! We have done the Aqueduct tour before and were really happy when our friends had booked it again for us! We did the trip on the Saint Michael yesterday - the weather was amazing, the volunteers were welcoming, friendly and a wealth of knowledge. The trip is really relaxing, the commentary is interesting, tea/coffee and shortbread biscuits are provided on board and we had wonderful weather - what more could anyone ask for. An added bonus was being handed a Cadburys cream egg for Easter which we were not expecting! It is amazingly good value, we stopped at the Aqueduct and were able to get off to take in the view and this was also a chance for some lovely photos! All four of us thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would have no hesitation in doing it all again next time we are staying locally.Visited March 2024Travelled with friendsWritten April 1, 2024

Afternoon Tea was served on a boat which takes you on a 2 hour trip along the canal. Beautiful scenery whilst listening to some of the local history too. A big thank you to Lynne, Maureen and the rest of the team who put this great experience together. The quality of the food and service was excellent. Definitely recommend this unique experience.Visited July 2024Travelled with friendsWritten August 4, 2024

We had booked a trip to the Linlithgow Union Canal while visiting our friends in Grangemouth. Most of us had done the trip before but it was a new experience for one member of our party. There is no parking at the facility (other than a couple of disabled spaces) so you have to park on the road outside, which is a very steep hill.
The setting before boarding the barge is idyllic with beautiful flowers everywhere. The staff, who are all volunteers, are all really friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. The Covid measures in place are excellent - you have to wear a mask on board while moving around but can remove this once at your table. We brought a lovely picnic which is permitted, there is complimentary tea & coffee on the barge.
The trip itself is wonderfully relaxing! It takes approximately 2.5 hours although yesterday, it was around 3 hours. The stop at the aqueduct is an excellent photo opportunity!
We would thoroughly recommend this trip if you are in the area - one not to missed! 🙂

What a superb bunch of volunteers we met this week at the canal centre. Although closed for lockdown, the centre’s volunteers were all working hard to spruce up their visitor trip canal boats.
They were only too happy to help us with advice on our trip and gave us a potted history of the canal. When it opens, the centre has a pretty tea room and mini museum too.
Alastair is an absolute gem if you get the chance to meet him. I could have chatted to the chaps at the centre all day.

We hired the Leamington, self Drive canal boat to celebrate my hubbie 65 birthday with family.
Absolutely fantastic family day out.
Wullie, met us at the boat and explained everything to us, as none of us had sailed a canal boat before.
The people on the locks were so friendly and helpful too.
Amazing journey through the peaceful canal and a ride in the Falkirk wheel đź‘Ť
Would highly recommend it .

Had a lovely time on the Aqueduct Cruise with my 10yo daughter. Nice slow trip along to the 2nd highest aqueduct in Britain and back. Refreshments and biscuits available on board included in the price. Got a shot steering the barge with a little certificate at the end. Alastair, his wife and Layla the dog were great hosts. Lovely quaint tea room and gift shop at the Canal Centre and you could catch little minnows in the canal with a fishing net you can buy for ÂŁ2 at the gift shop. My daughter loved seeing the ducks, ducklings and moorhen.

I just love the canal centre and visit whenever I come to stay in Linlithgow. The volunteers create a lovely atmosphere and everything, including the boat trips, is such good value. Quaint cafe too. I hope tourists from Edinburgh get to know about this lovely spot by the canal. It certainly has a place in my heart.

Fabulous 2 hour trip over the aqueduct. The two men (Dave and Alistair) were great telling us all about the history of the canals, well worth going on the trip just to hear the history. The men were very well informed and it was a great history lesson. A most enjoyable, relaxing 2 hour trip that I would really recommend.

Excellent way to spend a mixed weather afternoon- delicious scone and coffee in the tea room first and then the 2.5 hour cruise. Great info from Alasdair and John on board and a relaxing meander down the canal. Sadly pouring by time we got to the aqueduct so I didn't venture out but even in rain a good activity and would be ideal with older less mobile relatives etc.

Arrived at the Canal centre after receiving email stating open Wednesday. However, got there and no trips as schools back. Initially bit disappointed, spoke to a lovely lady (so sorry I don't recall your name) and the lovely Alistair. So not only did they take us out on the Victoria, he also gave us some history of the canals and I had a go off sailing the barge. Thankyou so much for your time made our day 🤩.

My husband & I went on the Avon Aqueduct canal tour. The canal centre has a nice tea room & museum. Staff were all very friendly. The tour itself was very scenic and the tour master very knowledgeable. The tour itself lasted 2 1/2 hours with refreshments included and a stop at the aqueduct with photo opportunity.
I give this 5 out of 5 and excellent value for money

Does the boat offering the 2 hour cruise have a toilet on board ?
Written September 5, 2019
I don’t think so, but the cafe where you start the trip does have one.

Hi there. They are open for boat trips on the weekends but arrangements can be made through the week. The entrance to the canal Center is wheel chair accessible but not all of the boats. Contact the volunteers at The canal Center. They are very helpful & will assist you any way they can I'm sure! Enjoy your visit!
