i visited Lydgate state park almost every morning to catch the sunrise and stretch the legs. it reminds me of Torrey Pines in San Diego. and it is not crowded as it is next to the golf course.

We loved the beach, but then we couldn't get the kids OFF the play structure! They loved it! However it does need some repairs, and there was an alarming number if cigarette butts at the bottom of the volcano slide.

Two fun, massive playgrounds. The newer one has nice places to sit for adults and is surrounded by more trees, I like this one better. Clean and not too crowded here....then again I went on a weekday.

Even on a wavey day the rocked in area of the beach is dead calm. Great for kids, safe, picnic tables in shade or sun. For lunch try the Hilton Garden in within walking distance. Delicious!

In the winter probably south shore - the beach next to the beach house restaurant has amazing snorkeling- tons of cool fish
