About Beyond the Glass Adventure Tours
We deliver Cycling Tours of Cork City and Adventure Tours along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way. On the cycling tour of Cork City the majority of the cycling is on designated cycle lanes, riverside pathways and through parks. The tour dips into many aspects of Corks rich history which stretches back to the arrival of St Finbarr. We cycle through the Viking and Medieval areas and visit Fitzgerald’s Park, Elizabeth fort and the Campus at University College Cork. The cities secrets as well as stories of Corks notable characters are revealed on the tour. On our multi day adventure tours you will get an off-the-beaten track experience in the spectacular scenery of the west coast of Ireland. We run small group fully guided hiking and cycling tours. At Beyond the Glass Adventure Tours our aim is to take people ‘beyond the glass’ of their office PC, their laptops and the bus window, bringing them outdoors to show them the beauty, history and culture of Cork city and Ireland.

Enjoyed a fantastic city cycle tour today. It was culture, history, exercise and a wonderful view of the city from 2 wheels all rolled into one. James was our brilliant guide and even the teenagers wud recommend!

Niamh, I was delighted to guide you and your family around Cork in the wonderful sunshine. That is high recommendation from the teenagers, great to hear that. Thank you, James

This was my second time visiting western Ireland, having been hooked the previous year by a more mainstream tour company - and James offered the deeper level of physicality, adventure, exploration, and intimacy to nature that I was looking for! I had a great group of people traveling with me, some of whom I still keep up with today, over a year later (I actually traveled in June of 2019, not December!) - and, despite being a solo traveler, I always felt considered and included in the group's activities and after-hours excursions. The tour covered a lot of ground and was strenuous at times, but I always felt in control and supported when it came to my level of fitness; James provided lots of options for different levels of activity. A highlight for me was biking down the Gap of Dunloe, but we saw - and walked and hiked and biked and sailed - so many beautiful places. James is a great guide, you can tell he's really doing what he loves. He's got a ton of knowledge and resources for the inquiring mind; I really enjoyed our conversations together, and I came home with a list of new music, movies, and books to delve into. The Wild Atlantic Way is a truly unique part of the world; it feels distinctly mystical and it looks like something out a textbook on prehistoric times. I feel like there is still so much to see and do there; it remains a dream destination for me and someplace I'll continue to visit throughout my lifetime (as long as James has a spot for me!)

James is as efficient as he is easy-going. It took him no time to get us set up properly on our bikes and on our way. Like so many of the Irish people we met, he not only knows his history, he knows how to tell a story. We hope someday to sign up for one of his longer adventures.

Amazing trip from start to finish. James' engaging tour combined with spectacular views led to an amazing week in Ireland. We were pointed towards amazing local food options at every point in the journey, and the mix of biking/hiking/driving was great. Thank you James!

Wonderful ride, beautiful city, we saw parts of the city we wouldn't normally would have. Great orientation. A great tour guide, with lots of interesting information and stories about Cork. He was also kind enough to give us great tips on bars and restaurants to try out, after our ride. Bikes were in good condition and it was a beautiful ride in the parks and in city. thank you.
