The Old English Market is really nice any food item is available fresh. Rows of Butcher's, bakeries, and fine candy are available. You get to see what the locals buy. Each shop try to out do each other.

The whole idea is great, it's an actual market, not for tourists, but for local mothers and cooks. To me one of the things to do in Cork

We stumbled across this market, which was lots of fun. My husband and I tasted some food. We were amazed at the meat and fish. Bustling and loud but high quality! Great stop as you walk through town.

You can easily spend an hour just walking throuhg the market, getting some shopping done and having a snack or a whole meal. Extravagant and fresh fruit/vegetables (haven't seen black garlic that often so far), good choice of organic salads and sandwiches. Can only recommend.
