This is an old, dark and dingy pub which some people might like. The night we visited for a drink on our way into town for a meal, there were a few people there, but it was very dark inside and there was an odd smell in the place. We wondered if it was bleach, but was quite strong. We... More

An excellent traditionally decorated bar with a great atmosphere. If you want somewhere where the staff are friendly, the decor is traditional with all sorts of old items and newspaper articles on the walls this is it. The atmosphere is great I thoroughly recommend The Forge Bar.

Go for a pint, stay forever. On holiday from US and couldn't have felt more welcome with the pub jam packed with locals on a Friday night. Do yourself a favor and just go. Ask for Annie to pour your Guiness.

Dropped in here on a thursday afternoon while having a short break in Donegal. Welcoming by a lovely young lady who had a very sociable chat for the 1 1/2 hours that we spent sitting by the bar. The Guinness was absolutely fab, and the Heineken was also top class. If your looking for a real Irish style bar, With... More

Popped into this local pub on a busy Friday evening before headed to a wedding the next day, sat in the back part fully kitted out in Irish bric-a-brac and decorated in keeping with a traditional Irish pub. I had 3x pints of fresh Guinness and had a great time, authentic atmosphere, friendly staff and lively locals...me and my group... More

We visited the forge pub and basically never left. The atmosphere was fantastic and it's a really historic pub that's been left in a traditional way and it's the better for it. The staff in the pub are very welcoming and we had the fortune of being welcomed by Claire Sweeney which was great as she knows everyone. If you... More

Not as crowded as the Reel Room. Much larger more comfortable venue. Usually has 2 (very good) musicians as opposed to the Reel Room's multiple rotating talent and range of instruments. Nice pub food to be had until late. A very worthy alternative offering its own unique vibe, often frequented by the locals escaping the tourist crowds.

Called into the Forge after reading reviews on here and it really is a gem of a pub. We started of visiting a few other pubs first just to try them with the intention of ending up at The Forge. We were not disappointed. We were greeted by the owner Joe and made to feel very welcome. The fire was... More
