I have been rejected by TripAdvisor for putting such sites as Trajan's Column in Rome, yet these two houses with only stone walls remaining makes it on TA? There's no phone, or website for "Port" because there is nothing here! OK, if you like riding...More

We were recommended to go and See Port (An Port) and the abandoned village. It is not easy to find the correct single track road leading to Port. You quickly begin to feel you are venturing into the real wilds of Donegal and that the...More

I am from Ardara and this was the first time i visited Port - It is a remote and beautiful place which is quite a bit off the beaten track but well worth the effort. The weather was fantastic when we went there and there...More

Talk about isolation!!! This place is REALLY in the middle of nowhere and awesome! The road was really narrow but it had places to pull out here and there (tests your driving skills). There are a handful of stone structures still partially standing, and lots...More

Yes, Port is off the beaten path, beautiful, historic, ghostly, rugged and isolated! What’s not to like! Getting there is half the fun. It takes a while, but, the tiny roads, beautiful scenery and waiting for sheep to get out of the way is part...More

I wanted to go here after reading reviews but don't think it was worth the effort. I travelled from Ardara and it took almost an hour and on old, narrow mountain paths. Now I'm Irish and a farmers daughter so maybe the charm is lost...More

It was beautiful, but took a long time to drive there. There is a hiking path from Glencombkille which we tried to find but couldn't locate it.

The ruins of this village are inherently interesting, but very similar to many others throughout Ireland. What is special about this site is scenery along the long road you travel to get to it, and the coastline when you get there. It is one of...More
