I was raised as a young boy in Fitzwilliam Square. My family lived in number 61. We had a key for the gates. My family lived there in to the early 70s, at that time many family's lived on the Square, there were tennis courts in the park or Square as the locals referred to the park. A really beautiful place for family's at that time to live and raise children. Many happy memorys of the many hours my brother and I spent playing in the park and surrounding streets.

There’s so much going on in this area of Dublin that people often decide to walk straight past this park rather than walk through and take 100 minutes to enjoy it.
If you’re in the area walk through the park and take 10 minutes to yourself, take in this little bit of Dublin and when you walk out you’ll feel great, I guarantee it.

We were lucky enough to live on the Square for a while and had a key to the garden. It's small but perfectly formed, and is occasionally open to the public for events. There are also some offices in the Georgian townhouses on the square which hold events - worth going to see inside the amazing buildings if you have the chance.

Unfortunately its a private square (as in the park is private) so entry is restricted to those owners with keys. However, its worth walking around the square and looking both into the park and looking at the amazing Georgian Houses (now offices) around the square. In particular look at the variety of doors and colors on them .....stunning. Recommended.

This private garden area is surrounded by Georgian townhouses. The architecture is stunning. The intricacies of the some of the doors was amazing. The setting is very idyllic with the great architecture, the ivy growing on the buildings and the beautiful gardens. It would have been nice to see inside the private area, but I understand.

Just one of the beautiful park like squares in Dublin. This one is surrounded by Georgian Townhouses, most of which are now offices. We met an architect who was renovated one of the houses and we got to see inside. Just a glimpse into what life must have been like during this period. A great walking opportunity.

I Have long been fascinated by little secret gardens and parks in cities. The Fitzwilliam Square Park in Dublin is pretty gorgeous (and I am lucky enough to have access to this private park as our offices are based In the square). It regularly opens to the public for #Happenings and indeed has been used for outdoor film screenings, weddings and photo shoots. This summer has seen it host food fairs on a Thursday (#IrishVillageMarkets). Meant to get there all summer and finally made it on Thursday of this week. Lovely option to have for lunch and a wide choice of food stalls (from fish and chips to Vegan to Pizza to Sushi to Lebanese, Mexican and Korean). So on the one hand great choices but I began to realise that in another way there was very little choice and that related to price. It was almost impossible to spend less than €8 - I realised almost every stalls entry point /basic offering was €8 so I'm assuming there is some minimum price agreement. I went for the Mexican food offering (salad bowl with all the Mexican offerings normally in a burrito). It was good but bland (despite choosing the hot spicy chicken and the chimichurri sauce) but what I thought really a ripoff was the charge of an extra €1 for guacamole (especially given it was presented with the other 8 offerings of chilis, salsa, sour cream, cheese etc). Given it is a typical ingredient in the dish - it smacks of opportunism. (I recall being at a similar fair in London and being able to try 4 or 5 different cuisines for £1-3 each). So in summary - a gorgeous little park and when open to the public you should try and get in; lovely to have the food fair experience (and Irish Village Markets to be commended for their initiative) but would strongly suggested a wider choice of price offerings.

The park is private and locked but the streets surrounding it are classic Georgian buildings and if you like the famous colored doors, this is a must walk.

Easy to access by foot from main tourist areas such as Grafton Street and Trinity College..
