About
O'Donoghue's is a historically significant drinking establishment. Built in 1789 as a grocery store, it began operating full time as a bar in 1934. The famous Irish folk group The Dubliners started here in the early 1960s and to this day there is live traditional Irish music 7 nights a week.

MUST SEE IN DUBLIN ABSOLUTELY FAB
My friend & I came here after walking by at lunchtime hearing music in the distance we were pleasantly surprised when we walked through the small alley/passage to be greeted by 4 guys playing instruments& singing traditional irish songs - they were FANTASTIC. The atmosphere was 10/10 the singing & music was just brilliant & the staff are also lovely & friendly. An absolute hidden gem of a place, reasonably priced & definitely worth a visit when in Dublin - don’t be put off from outside this place is brilliant

Best live music in Temple Bar
Fantastic live music with a fun lively atmosphere. Me and my wife came here a few times in our week in Dublin and this was hands-down the best nightlife spot in the Temple Bar area. O'Donoghue's has a lot of locals and regulars as well, and later on in the night on Fridays and Saturdays becomes a lively place with a little bit of dancing but is a friendly and clean atmosphere, without being too crowded. The live musicians were easily the most talented we had seen in the area, able to pull off music from a wide range of genres while keeping things engaged and fun. We didn't try the food, but their cocktails were excellent as well.

Lovely Irish welcome - delicious breakfast
Lovely Irish welcome in this pub. We stumbled in straight off the early flight from Cardiff looking for something substantial to set us up for the day. We had 3 breakfasts and a few lovely pints of Guinness! Lovely food and a lovely Irish welcome. We will definitely be back.

Neighborhood bar tucked away from tourist traps
This is a true Irish pub in the middle of pubs that are overrun with tourists. Locals belly up for pints, and give you a raised eyebrow if you order anything off what's being pulled from the beer spigots. It's great for people watching and having a great time. Love this place!

Best traditional pub in Dublin don’t miss it.
Absolutely fantastic place to spend an evening in Dublin. We enjoyed it so much we went back again the next night. Fabulous music, wonderful friendly staff, great prices and a heart full of nostalgia. A trip to Dublin would not be the same without a visit to the best pub in the city. Can’t wait to come back. Thank you all.

    Fun!
If you like the Dubliners you will love this pub! It is where the original band formed! On the small side but did not struggle to get a table and drinks were reasonably priced! Pictures everywhere of the band so a great photo opportunity! There are a couple of O'Donoghue Bars so don’t be fooled as they are not all the genuine ones! You’ll know as soon as you walk through the door. Only disappointing factors is they had no music playing (live or on stereo, we were there around 3pm on a Friday). Definitely worth a visit.

Nice pub near St Stephens Green
My wife and I ducked into O’Donoghues Bar on our way back from the EPIC museum (and also to duck out of the rain!) We shared a “keg table” with three other people and wound up having a wonderful conversation over a few pints of Guinness. One of the persons was from the US and it turned out he taught at the high school my wife and I attended and we knew some of the same people…small world! Our other “table” friends were a couple from Dublin who were delightful to talk with. We wound up staying a lot longer than planned. The music and craic were both great! Nice place to stop in for a pint and listen to music.

Came for the beer, stayed for the people.
I travel alone and rarely stay for more than one drink in one place, but I felt so welcome at O'Donoghue that I stayed for three. Great atmosphere with really good musicians who had us clapping and singing along. The staff were friendly even though the place was packed. Thanks for a great evening!

    Excellent pub
Visited this pub as it was recommended by one of the Big Bus drivers. It turned out to be an excellent choice. Lots of music, friendly staff and not too badly priced. If you in Dublin, stay out of the Temple Bar area, and try a pub like this one. I couldn't recommend it enough, after spending an entire evening in there, and just about managing to stagger back to the Hotel. Great atmosphere.

We visited here twice this week during our time in Dublin. We have heard alot about it through the Seven Drunken Nights tour about the Dubliners. It was absolutely amazing to be where they began. It is very atmospheric can visualise them sitting there playing and singing their music.
Staff were brilliant on both of our visit.
We are adding this to our Dublin itinerary for future trips.
Fantastic!

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this historic legendary bar - The home to the Dubliners.
The best, most friendly, informative staff, cracking pint og Guinness (or twelve!!!!). Live traditional music andas they say in Dublin "The craic was ninety". Everyone has to pop into this place for a pint or three, a sandwich and a bowl of soup and just soak up the atmosphere.

Passing by looking for someplace to rest. The sounds of live music and the hubub of a crowd drew us into a fantastic way to say goodbye to Dublin. Great music, libations, and other patrons. All very friendly and a real sense of just having a good time. 9 folks sitting around a couple of tables entertaining themselves as much as the viewing crowd. An awesome evening, stopped by for one and stayed for more.

Authentic and historic Irish pub with bags of character. It was packed when we visited (England v Ireland Six Nations rugby) and the banter was warm hearted and fin. Drinks were more reasonably priced that Temple Bar.

What can I say about this bar. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by some of the most welcoming people bar staff and locals alike. I then knew I’d be there for the rest of the night. Massive props to Anto and the gang you are all wonderful. If anyone wants an authentic night in Dublin come here. For the history. For the culture. For the fact that Kennedy once rode his Horse to the bar. Fun fact from the manager himself.

On our way back to the hotel from a Book of Kells tour, we decided we wanted to stop for a couple drinks and hear a little Irish music. Just happened to pass O'Donoghues, and one of our tour guides had mentioned it earlier in the day. So we swung in, found a table in the courtyard area, and ordered our drinks. We were enjoying our drinks, and conversation with some friends, waiting for the music to start. Unfortunately, for us, a group of about 10 came in and sat at the 3 tables beside us, and most of them smoked. As soon as they all lit up, it kind of ruined the experience and we ended up finishing our drinks and leaving. The music had just started, and we did catch a little of it....it's the real deal.

This Pub is without a shadow of a doubt the best pub in Dublin. My wife & I have been into so many pubs in Dublin & the warmth & friendliness of all the staff in O'Donoghues is amazing. We run our own Pub in England & fully understand what's involved. These guys really go out of their way to make everyone feel so welcome. It has to be said that Paddy (Foxy) is their no.1 he is so unbelievably good at his job, its like looking at a piece of fine art watching him work. Kevin the owner is a very lucky guy to have such an incredibly experienced barman, Paddy is the next level. We need to pay credit to some other staff also who were very good. Andy, Paul. Damo, Billy, Gill, Jake, Paddy, Ant & Paul. Well done Kevin on having such a great team. But I will say Foxy is your key staff member he is management material for sure.
Thank you for giving my wife & I such a great time. We will be back again very soon. Keep up the good work guys 👌 5⭐️service 100% Perfect 👍

Visited here Monday 25.07.2022 for lunch. We were doing a walkabout on our last day in Dublin before we flew back to the US after vacation.
We had stopped for a drink here one afternoon in 2018. This time we had plenty of time for lunch. Place was busy but we were seated right away near the bar. Server Rezah brought us menus and took our drink order. We had a wine (E7) & a beer (E4.50).
We had a chicken caesar salad (E12.20) and the soup & grilled sandwich special (E9.50). Both were brought to our table in 20 minutes, well prepared and tasty. A very good value in the heart of Dublin.
Sales & VAT taxes are confusing. They are itemized on tabs but are included in price of food & drink.
Great service & good food & drink at a valued price. Nice place to visit.
Thank you.
