Best part of a visit to Dublin Castle. Free entry and an amazing collection of manuscripts. Much more interesting than the castle itself.

Wasn't on our wishlist until the Sandemans guide told us about it. Managed to slip in just before closing time on Sunday. Amazing back story of the gentleman who gave this collection to the people of Ireland

This was the best experience we had in Dublin. The collection of manuscripts was astonishing. Why is everyone queuing to see The Book of Kells when this is 100 times better - and free! Some of the manuscripts were breathtaking and the information with each...More

This library has so much to offer and there's no admission cost. We only had a short window, but looking at the old pages of the rare books was incredible. This is a great alternative to the Book of Kells. There is also a nice...More

Free admission to this very interesting museum. Overwhelming amount of history and texts. There are items in here that are so rare and special.

My tour book suggested this library instead of the Book of Kells as it is a) free, b) less crowded, and c) just as old of manuscripts. It did not disappoint. So much history laid out so well. Stunning presentations, really. Highly recommend.

Must see while you’re in Dublin. It’s free and though there’s a lot to read and look at, it’s not overwhelming. Tons of history, various artifacts relating to Christianity, Islam and Buddhism. Location is near a lot of other attractions too so it’s perfect. Closes...More

Fascinating displays of the world's great religious works, including Christianity (3rd century copies of St. Paul's letters, ancient Bibles and works of art), Muslim, Hindu, Buddhism, Taoism and other isms I wasn't at all familiar with. Whatever god you worship, you're likely to find historical...More

It is defiantly a great place to visit. The library is free but you can leave a donation. The books on the second floor are amazing. Mr. Chester Beatty was a scholar and a gentleman to have found and saved these documents for future generations.

Lots of old manuscripts from Asia, Middle East as well as Europe. Very well organized and displayed. The religious items are separated by religion with very good explanations.

Unfortunately there is not external visitor parking at Dublin Castle. There are a good number of sites to park in central Dublin within walking distance of the museum.
