Chester Beatty is a rich American mining magnate who traveled widely and collected 66,000 objects and retired to Ireland. This place shows medieval arts and artifacts, east asia, islamic world, etc.

I really didn't know what to expect at the Library, but I was quite impressed. Not only are there visually impressive books and artifacts, but there is a wonderful explanation of their significance and the culture surrounding them (e.g., religions such as Christianity and Islam)....More

We came here while waiting for the tour of the castle to start. I was flabbergasted over the special exhibit of the "Books of Hours". The room is full of fascinating and meticulously painted religious miniature. Highly recommended and free!

We wandered into the library after we were unable to secure a tour in Dublin Castle. The Beatty collections are beautifully and coherently displayed. The illuminated manuscripts are sensational. Go!

Unfortunately there is not external visitor parking at Dublin Castle. There are a good number of sites to park in central Dublin within walking distance of the museum.
