This museum is in the former Royal Hospital similar to our Chelsea Pensioner Hospital in London. There is an excellent cafe and lots of space. In fact so much space that you need to be able to walk without problems. There were several rooms of...More

We walked for ages to get to the place only to find one small gallery space exhibiting hardly any art pieces as the east wing was closed to set up a new exhibition. The building itself was of much greater interest than the free art...More

This a modern art most of the time I spend asking the question why is this art. I found this museum had more art that looked like art. Do not forget the gardens next to the museum.

I don't really regret going, the historic old building is very impressive. It's just a flat out shame that they're using it to display such an ugly collection of paintings. After 30-60 minutes, I still hadn't found a single attractive painting. I guess modern art...More

Let’s get this out of the way. Staff on front desk, etc. are somewhere north of friendly. They are okay but charisma is a foreign country to them. We went to see the Freud/yeats exhibit which was fabulous but staff could have been more helpful....More

I wasn't impressed by the "modern" art at the IMMA. It couldn't hold my attention and all seemed so pretentous. But the Dublin Pass gave free access to the Lucian Freud centre, and they had a good Freud/Yeats exhibit that made up for the lacklustre...More
