We took a small group of astronomy lovers to Dunsink Observatory. We arrived as travellers and left as family! They could not have made us feel any more welcome. The grounds are lovely and, if you're in to old telescopes and science history, you'll have a ball. Don't forget the rest of the astronomy trail too. Highly recommended

Very interesting place, well worth finding to have a look around. Run by volunteers who are very helpful. Visit if you can.

You have to make a reservation and you may be put on a list, but when the time comes its excellent. The scientific lectures are terrific and the staff then bring you outside and give you lessons on the night sky. My regret is that I didn't have my 10 and 13 year old nephews with me. A night for... I have had a trip to Dunsink Observatory on my wishlist of places to go for about 20 years but because I believed it was adjacent to a dump and in an unsafe area due to car burgaries I put it off.
