walk across the Liffey

I have taken this bridge many times and it is nice not to be near all the traffic and have a quite view of the river.

An amazing bridge - iconic of Dublin. I love visiting the bridge. Popular amongst tourists for a photo opportunity. The bridge also provides a great photo of the Liffey River too. Unfortunately some tourists are destroying the bridge with the padlocks - which the council has to remove to preserve and protect the bridge. So please don't do it!

The Ha'penny Bridge was close to our hostel. We crossed it each night to enter the Temple Bar area. Since it is a pedestrian bridge, it is much less crowded than some of the other bridges. The views of River Liffey are nice from the bridge. At night there are many homeless people and drug addicts sitting or lying on... More

I know this bridge has a story why is it called the way it is called, but to be honest, it is just one of many bridges over the river with homeless people asking for money. True is that at the end you are only meters away from Temple Bar area with bars and restaurants.

We were told at one point, couples used to put locks on the railings like they do in Paris. Government had them removed, not really that interesting other than to say we saw it. and crossed it.

As you stroll back from O'Connell Street after having done some afternoon shopping, turn right at the river and within a block or two you will find the Ha"penny Bridge...named for the toll once charged to cross it. Foot traffic only! No cars! YAY!

Good photo stop of the river and the colorful buildings on both sides of the river. Fun to walk over a bridge that cost 1/2 cent when it was built in 1816.

There are several bridges over the river in Dublin- I am not certain which is the most beautiful but the view at night is definitely the best when they are all lit up.
