The medieval wall is mixed in with the older part of the town. It is even the mall. It is worth seeing parts of it while you tour the City

It is incredible to find the Medieval Walls within the Eyre Sq Mall. But there they are -- huge and beautiful. Just another one of the hidden historical places in the City. Head down Druid Alley for another.

We came to the mall to grab a quick breakfast and came across the medieval walls within the mall. We thought it was a great way to preserve an historic part of the city and incorporate it within a modern structure.

We happened upon this exhibit as we were walking through Galway. It appears that the walls were uncovered while excavating to build a mall and then the stores went up around them.

Stopped in as part of my walking tour of Galway. It was amazing that they preserved these ancient walls within a modern shopping center. You will want to sit at the cafe by the old walls and enjoy a cup pf coffee or tea.

We went in specifically to see the wall which was neat, but also strange that there is a mall around it - glad we saw it but plenty of other monument and buildings to see if this isn't on your list

This was just part of the Galway experience for us. I wouldn't have missed seeing the walls, but it certainly would not have been a destination just for its own sake. Seeing them was just part of a very nice holiday.

It's a cool little thing to check out if you're at the Eyre Square shopping centre, it's downstairs in the food court area. Built in the 1500s, it's very interesting to see it in a shopping centre with some mannequins and such around on the...More

This Mall has enclosed a large section of The City Walls and has great placards giving insight into the walls themselves - out of the rain. The Mall itself has all kinds of shopping for grocery food as well as tourist shops

Most of what is remaining of the Medieval walls can be seen inside the Eyre Square Shopping Centre and around the Spanish Arch. There are traces elsewhere, built into buildings and boundary walls. Also take a look in the City Museum for context, right beside...More
