O’Connell’s bar is located in the heart of Galway city in Eyre Square. A traditional Irish bar which was originally a grocery store and small bar, and it still has most of its original features and decor. O' Connells is one of Galway's oldest bars and is famous for its cosy atmosphere and amazing pint of Guinness. O' Connells have a large selection of whiskeys, gins and craft beers. They also have a large heated beer garden with outdoor bars and live entertainment every weekend.

We were lucky to find seating for all of us on a Sunday afternoon. We could have stayed all night. There was a very mixed crowd including children in the afternoon - we enjoyed the craic with the barman and loved the decor

I was never more insulted in all my life. The bar man just refused to serve me and my 5 friends. He claims they dont serve groups so you have to go to this pub alone

I passed by this Galway Icon a number of times, trying to ignore it's ignominious Eyre Square neighbour Fibber's, so I didn't give it a second glance. Then friends arranged to meet up there, and I was gobsmacked; the Front Bar is as traditional and...More

The pub itself is a beautiful building. Neither me nor my friends could comment on the quality of the pint, however, the barman was nothing short of rude. We walked in of an afternoon for a few quiet pints before dinner, waited ten minutes, ordered...More

This bar manages to cope with it's popularity better than most. It is like a tardis with the small front bar being a classic bar but opens out into a really good space out back with other bars, tellys, and even a pizza oven if...More

This place is like a step back in time. The beer garden is very quirky. Although to be honest it didn't feel like the most friendliest of places to drink in . We felt ignored whilst waiting to order a drink. Maybe it's just for...More

Came through Galway on a day trip; were told that O'Connell's was "the Galway Girl bar"... being a group of girls we were quite keen to have a pint and check it out. It was fairly quiet as it was early in the day but...More
