Ross's castle, in itself, is nothing more than just another beautiful Irish castle. The most interesting thing, however, is the facing lake. We took a small boat, piloted by a gentleman, and we arrived at an uninhabited island where we visited an ancient monastery. Recommended

Do not miss this castle if you are in the park. It is situated on a lake with swans swimming and views of mountains. It is spectacular.

First thing to note is this place gets very crowed in a hurry. If you intend to visit, do it early in the day. Even in October there weren't enough spots for all the buses and parking for cars is limited. With that out of...More

There isn’t much left off Ross Castle. You can walk around the ruins and there is a nice view of the lake but not much to explore at the castle.

We stopped here on our Jaunting Car tour and it is a beautiful spot for some great photos. Tours of the lakes also depart from here

The Ross Castle B&B is in Oldcastle County Meath and not the one in Killarney. There is a disclaimer in their website.

There are a few in and around the castle, but to be honest it's so busy and crowed, it's not the sort of place I would stop for a picnic. Too noisy.
