While there are many castles throughout Ireland the advantage Ross Castle has is that it is close to so many other things to see. If you have a burning desire to see the inside of a castle, why drive out of your way. We saw...More

We finished our Dunloe gap tour, and found we had time to fit in a Ross tower tour. Well worth the €4.50 each. Please note you can only go around this tower with an authorised guide. Each group has in total 12 persons, and is...More

We took the guided tour. Our guide was very nice. The stairs are a bit difficult to manage. Worth the effort

Castle (couldn't go in) ruin that sits near a lake. Nice short stop for a picnic lunch if you have time.

The castle is a 20 min walk from Killarney center or a 5 min drive. You can take a horse and buggie ride here too. At Ross castle, you can take a boat tour around the lake. It is a very nice boat ride on...More

Our tour guide had a lively and elaborative way of explaining the history of the castle, which really made it come alive! Take cash with you, the payment system in use is from a medieval time ;)

We arrived early and it was a very nice castle on a picturesk water area. Did not get to stay long but it was worth our time to visit.

This was my second trip to the castle. Although we stayed longer the first time (due to much warmer weather) it is a beautiful and relaxing place that I would visit regularly if I were from the area.

Hello, My family is going to visit Ireland in June. Ross Castle is on our list. Should I visit it with a tour that goes to many places the same day, or should I visit the castle by itself so I can spend more time there? Thanks for your help! Beau Roberts

I would say it's worth a couple of hours including the 40-minute tour. Make sure you know the tour schedule, because you can't get into the castle except on the guided tour, which is very infomative.
