Well ,as Castles go, this one barely qualifies. If you are staying at the Lake Hotel, you should go as it is almost within a stones throw from the Pub area. It is an old ruin... read more

The hotel was our destination here for afternoon tea and we only realised the castle was there as we sat in the conservatory, enjoying the view. A lovely afternoon tea in a lovely hotel with stunning views. Would have been disappointed if our destination was the 'castle'.

This ruin is set on the edge of the lake directly in front & in the grounds of the Lake Hotel with the back drop of the Lake & Mountains. A nice photo spot .

Beautiful view of lake, named Lough Leane, one of the Lakes of Killarney. Beautiful views of rugged mountains behind lake. To get to castle, drive or walk into Lake hotel, public right-of-way to the castle

Walked down here as it is in the grounds of the Lake Hotel and the hotel maintain it. really spectacular views from the courtyard of the lake and mountains. Their is also a little pier there where hire boats can pick up and drop off. People fish for trout from the pier too.

Not sure when the causeway was built from the mainland to the island castle but it is now a paved walk a few meters from our room in The Lake Hotel. It is quiet sanctuary with a few white pines and a small indiscernible chunk of the castle. The island can shrink or expand depending on the amount of rain... More

The location of this ruined castle is easy enough to find - just go into the entrance to the Lake Hotel, turn right at the arrows to the hotel car park and there it is, on a narrow little peninsula jutting into the lake. What an absolutely stunning setting it has- I bet in its heyday it must have looked... More

There is very little ruin to look at but the setting is stunning. It is plain to see why anyone would want to build their home at this spot. To sum up the ruins are nice to go to look at just to access the view.
