Historic beach to visit.

We visited on a cold wet, windy stormy day. Perfect for imagine what happened in the past with Roger Casement landing there as he landed there in April 1916

This a great beach for walking, swimming or just watching the waves. Great sand and a mile of it with sand dunes at the back. Safe fro children in most areas

My most favourite beach in kerry, nice and clean, good surf lessons are available here as well as hiring suits. Beautiful beach

We traveled to Kerry from Dublin this weekend and I was adamant I wanted to visit Banna Strand for one very special reason - The Rebellion. The most beautiful thing about Banna Strand is the history that it holds. During the Easter Rebellion of 1916 there was an attempted arms delivery by the Germans and Roger Casement. This is marked... I have always loved Banna having visited almost every year as a child on family holidays. It is a stunning strand, great for long walks and on fine days you can't beat it for swimming. Less crowded than nearby Ballybunion and less facilities, but more peaceful too.

Had not been back here for a number of years. I had spent some Sundays during my childhood here. The beach is really beautiful but a lot of sand seems to have been eroded since my childhood days when there were vast amounts of dunes. It was a wild and windy day when we visited but we loved the long... More

Great location. Straight drive out from Tralee. Fabulous beach. Wonderful for a spring walk with fresh Atlantic air blowing in from the ocean.

Beautiful unspoiled blue flag beach with miles of sand. Beach side car park - with view over water. Lifeguards on duty during summer - times clearly posted. Surfing school during summer. clearly identified bathing areas. Nearest shop is in Ardfert village about 2.5 miles away but there is an ice cream van/sweet van and burger-chip van in summer. Don't wait... More

Went there very frequently as a child 50 years ago. It has dramatically changed through the years, the sand dunes have been badly effected by prevailing westerly winds and are now much reduced in size. The horrid car park has spoilt its natural beauty. Although I appreciate the need for cars to park, it should have been done more sensitively... More

Great for walking, especially when the tide is out. There aren't any bins on the beach or around the car park though.
