A very real attempt to be authentic, but perhaps a bit overdone. This is, perhaps, the most visited and certainly the most historic inn in Kilkenny. You can’t not participate in the live music and entertainment. In other words, it’s impossible not to have a...More

We did not eat there, but headed to the lower level, where you can see the ancient stone walls that make up one of the oldest pubs in the area. Outside, there is a large patio where there was great live traditional music. That was...More

We came here just for a few beers and live music, and really enjoyed the atmosphere. We didn't eat here, so I can't comment on the food. However, the music was great and the atmosphere lively and fun. It was a bit crowded later in...More

What a fabulous bar. Great staff, great food & fabulous atmosphere. We had the Irish Stew which was fabulous. The live music was excellent. The staff were very accommodating with my boy. I will always come back here when I’m Kilkenny. It’s a fabulous experience.

Slow and ignorant bar tenders, food was average but atmosphere poor. Pretentious little spot that needs a make over and new management.

Great traditional Irish food with fast service. Somewhat disappointed that there was no music, but found out it's in the p.m. and we were there for lunch. Watch for the moving portrait.

In wandering Kilkenny looking for a good music venue we almost walked right past this ancient fixture. But after exploring it a bit (there are several different rooms and levels) we happened upon the back patio, which was reason enough to stop for a few...More

Paid a lot for steak, medium rare, got a busted welly and had to order a portion of chips to fill me. They Didn seem bothered, steak was very very well done and full of fat

We landed in as our last stop of the night, seeking refreshment. Plenty of atmosphere and our thirst quenched, the place livened up as more revellers arrived. A good mix of tourists and locals, with plenty of rooms to explore. A great night out had...More
