We lived the Greenway, we hired bikes in Newport and cycled to mularanny and back, which was a great day out, only downside was we had to cycle through Newport, the Greenway doesn't seem to continue through the town.

My friend and I walked Mulranny to Achill and back in one go. 4 Return journey more scenic but we loved it all (17 miles). We stopped at the Art Gallery and Coffee Shop on the way back and enjoyed a welcome pot of tea...More

Spent a few days based in Westport with some keen cyclist friends. Guided by local road cyclists, after a hard and fast ride on the main road to Achill, the Greenway provided a much gentler route back. Surface is the usual mix of tarmac and...More

Mostly flat terrain, mostly on dedicated bike paths, mostly paved. There are some services available along the route, but with long stretches of empty space. Fabulous show of wild rhododendrons on the approach to Achin Island.

Cycled the Mulranny to Achill leg of this and the scenery was just out of this world. A must do if in and around the area.

A large part of the Greenway consisted of cycling through farmland and sheep. Lots of sheep. Not the spectacular views of the West of Ireland that I was expecting.

Great cycling, well signed, plenty of toilets on the route. Excellent cafes. Stunning views. Highly recommended.

Cycled Greenway from Achill to Westport. Beautiful scenery along the way, very well signposted and so safe. Few tea/coffee stops along the way, most pleasant cycle. Would highly recommend this cycle especially in fine weather which we were lucky enough to have.

Firstly great idea to stay in Achill, it’s amazing! If you leave from Westport there are several safe car parks in the town that you can use. There are also spaces beside Clew bay bike hire if you intend on renting a bike.
