If I am in Sligo I always go for a drive around this as it is simply stunning. The juxtaposition of the mountains and scenery is simply breathtaking. The road on the waterfall side of the lake is quite narrow and windy so take care as not all of the drivers I met were driving appropriately.

If you want to see spectacular scenery, in a short amount of time, and are travelling between Sligo and Donegal, then go to Glencar lake.
If feeling even moderately energetic, a short walk to the waterfall is a must.
time permitting, a short stroll along the lakeside road followed by a visit to the tea shed is a wonderful way to spend as much time as possible.

We stopped to see the waterfall and take a hike. Some of my best pictures were taken here. Cafe and parking lot give ample room to park, have a snack and rest your feet.

Glencarr lake is lovely to walk around, take some photographs. There's a car park beside the waterfall which is just a short walk from the road. A nice day out.

Glencar lake is about a 15 minute drive from Sligo town. It is a very tranquil area with the lake, sheep grazing in the field and most notably the waterfall. The waterfall which is not big is a short walk from the carpark, public toilets and cafe along a nice stream. A relaxing place to spend a couple of hours
