This pleasant 1.2km nature trail is located along the shores of Lough Gill and takes in the low summit of Dooney Rock. Heading eastward, the trail takes in breathtaking views of the lake and its islands, in particular from the summit of Dooney Rock. Dooney Rock was immortalized in the poem by WB Yeats 'The Fiddler of Dooney'.

This is a nice walk along lough gill, however, in recent years far superior walks have been developed in sligo. Im not knocking it but there are better.

Tranquil setting. Historical. Nature Trail. Situated beside Lough Gill. We visited at different times for several days. Adult exercise equipment available and in use. We observed children playing in groups, fishermen, dogs, and people walking and cycling. Boat to the Isle of Innisfree leaves from here. An experience not to be missed.

A nice place for pleasant walk. Through the woods to lake shore. Nice views of the hills. Perfect for a picnic and a chill out day.

The forest part is a beautiful enchanting place surrounding its entrants in a canopy of leaves. The climb to the top of the rock is slightly steep but well worth it.

Beautiful walk just outside of Sligo. An enjoyable hike. Not strenuous at all just watch your footing on the roots and rocks. Overlooking the lake and mountains in the background, very enjoyable.

Dooney Rock is a lovely starting location for paddling out onto Lough Gill. A sheltered cove allows easy launching. The rock itself is perfect for walking and exploring nature. It's so accessible I've enjoyed several visits with friends and family. In spring it's a perfect place to gather wild garlic, or better still, paddle to Beezie's island for pure and... More

Fantastic for short forest walks. The whole round takes about 40 minutes. Stunning view of Lough Gill. Only a small car park on site, but the place is never really crowded.
