I live quite locally and have visited many years ago. This is a really lovely picturesque place to take a walk around and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The Abbey itself is not a lot to speak of but would be of interest to history buffs, it is however set in a wonderful location and has a few walks around it... More

Tintern is a magical place, it's got lovely walks, the setting is fantastic. The walled in garden has had a lot of work done on it over the last few years and is really looking good these days, the gardeners are always on hand to tell you about the garden and answer any questions you might have. Unfortunately the coffee... More

I had heard about this place and decided to take drive out. Although it is not open yet I thought it would be nice just to have a quick look. Whilst the grounds and Abbey are really well kept and there are plenty of walks and trails the reason I won't be going back is that there is a no... More

We visited with our 2.5 year old toddler and 3.5 month old baby on a chilly, rainy afternoon. We wish we could have explored the grounds more. The walks near the abbey are enchanting. The abbey itself is very impressive in size and a stunning piece of history. As you drive toward the abbey it feels like you are entering... More

Although the abbey wasn't open ... and in February you wouldnt expect it you can see what it would have been like in years go by.... Situated on the west shore of Bannow Bay in Co. Wexford, Tintern Abbey  was one of the most powerful Cistercian foundations in the South East  until the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1536.  The... More

Beautiful Norman Abbey, lovely trail walks and wonderful Cafe open from April to October (need to check) and the jewel in the crown, the Walled Garden.

A lovely mixture of a visit here as you have both ancient history in the visit to the Abbey and modernity in the visit to the reconstructed walled garden. We got a very warm and friendly reception from the staff in both locations. They explained in detail any queries we had.It was nice also to enjoy coffee and a cake in... More

We lived down the road from this little hidden gem for 2 months and would come to Tintern Abbey nearly every day to let my four kids play and get lost in the woods. It was an absolute dream come true to be able to wander the green woods and ruined mill. The Abbey was not open while we were... More

I've been here 3 times in the last 6 months alone. Our last visit was just last week, and even in bleak January, it was worth the visit. Lots of lovely walking trails, and you could easily spend a couple of hours at least here, exploring the Abbey, church, graveyard, the bridge and magnificent Colclough Walled Garden situated just a...
