The Ruislip Lido Railway is a 12 inch gauge railway operated entirely by volunteers. The line runs through the woodlands skirting the lake from Woody Bay Station beside the beach, all the way round to Willow Lawn Station which is close to the car park. Here you can watch the loco being turned on the turntable ready for the return journey. The two and a half mile round trip on Britain's longest 12 inch gauge railway takes about 35 minutes.

PLEASE NOTE - This TripAdvisor page is for the railway at the Lido. The Lido itself is maintained and operated by the local council.

Visited here in Feb half term and found it to be a lovely scenic location. The return price is very reasonable and the length of track is impressive. There is a small cafe near the car park, which is free, that serves drinks and a small restaurant near the manmade beach end serving food. The ride itself was very pleasant.... More

I did not know about this place until my girlfriend showed me today. What a fab place. £10 return for a family - a 10 minute trip from station to station on a fantastic train. The vokunteers obviously love what they do and they do a great job. Keep it up!!

The kids love it, open top, nice track layout through the woods. Service from the car park to the beach. Regular service, run by enthusiasts so it makes the experience more enjoyable. A great attraction and always requested by the children.

The children enjoyed the ride ...and kids are the best judges. Just a short ride at a reasonable cost.

A journey on this little train is a must each time we visit Ruislip Lido. Cruising at a relaxed speed through woodlands the little train takes you to the manmade beach, a return journey takes you back to the car park. Something special for people of all ages.

We visited The Lido and decided to take a trip on the train . We were really pleased that parking was free and it took 5 mins to walk to a small station. We bought two return tickets and took our lad who is just under 3 on for free. The train engine and carriages all looked in great condition.... More

This place is full of old memories for me. As a young child, then a teenager and more recently with friends just taking a quick March a round or with my kids to just have fun on the lido train or just play on the sand or complete the obstacle course. It's free, and it's our oasis of calm among... More

A lovely little railway round the woodland. Not overpriced and perfect for young children. Also a good way to get back to the car park if you don't want to walk from the beach.
