Brockholes is a new kind of nature reserve, an unreserved reserve. Everyone...

Brockholes is a new kind of nature reserve, an unreserved reserve. Everyone is welcome at Brockholes, whether you're a naturalist or a beginner, we have something for you to enjoy and lots of chances for you to get close to nature!

On the site of an old quarry, the Lancashire Wildlife Trust have used their expertise to create habitats for lots of different wildlife. You can take a stroll by the River Ribble, explore our woods or enjoy the lakes on site, which have all been specially designed to attract all kinds of wildlife for you to see!

Our spectacular floating Visitor Village means that you are as close to nature as possible providing stunning views across the lake. You can also discover our interactive Welcome Centre and learn all about the wildlife that you could see on-site, discover the exciting play area and explore our network of walks and trails (including shorter ones for little legs).

After exploring the reserve you can sit back and relax in our restaurant where you can enjoy the beautiful lake view with a coffee and a tasty treat or a long leisurely meal.

The Nest, our Brockholes gift shop is brimming with an inspiring collection of gifts, jewellery, books, toys, arts & crafts and other exciting treasures to remind you of your day and are sure to put a smile on the faces of people young and old.

A fantastic new addition to the Visitor Village is The Gallery at Brockholes. The Gallery will showcase a range of art and craft by guild members which includes fine art, photography, textiles, ceramics, glass, jewellery, wood and furniture.

The Gallery at Brockholes is run by the Art & Craft Guild of Lancashire, made up of a wide range of the finest local artists, designers and makers.

Finally got there ! Tried to get there last year but signs and travel directions were very difficult and confusing so we gave up and went home. We were lucky with the weather and spent a lovely sunny spring day walking around the reserve. Walked along the river and sat watched the heron and kestrel, and then walked through the... More

Great to hear you have found us! We are located just off junction 31 of the M6 at a busy junction and we have invested heavily in the brown tourist signage to direct you around this busy junction and even to direct you off the M6. Now that you know where we are and have had such a lovely day... More

Visited with 20 family members and had a decent time but the memory was ruined by a parking charge sent to us a whole 4 months later. It is possible we forgot to pay but sending a bill so much later gave us no chance at all to remember for sure or appeal, with the charge doubling if we dared... More

Visit completely ruined (as for many others) by the car park trap. We tried to pay for the car park but the machine didn't accept the coins we used. Didn't notice any signs saying to pay online which they claim there are. No car parking staff there to discuss the problem. End result, £50 fine for a short lunch break... More

This has been on my doorstep for years yet never knew of it! Managed by the Lancs, Manchester and North Merseyside Widlife trust it is a conservation centre just off the M6. It's free to enter (you pay only car parking), though you obviously donate. There are several walks and wildlife settings and for children a large play park. The... More

Brilliant easter trail and basket making event. It isn't the best place for very young as there are no railings or fences at the main centre but for wildlife and the walks around it is great for all. Good park but great spotting opportunities for birds and deer etc. Friendly staff. More bins for litter though please whilst walking around.... More

Drove across from West Yorkshire for a visit. Immediately struck by the peace, despite being alongside the M^. Beautiful, clean, spacious café with tables looking out over the lake and a coo;'s nest. Staff very friendly and helpful with good coffee and a reasonably-priced choice of food. Had a relaxing 2 mile stroll round lake before a good hot lunch.... More

Not too busy when we were there and bright sunshine tho not v warm. Friendly... More
