A quirky place with an unusual mix of old and new pieces. The staff are very friendly and on some days entry is free

Spent almost 4 hours here. Very interesting museum with loads to see. Everything thoughtfully displayed. Friendly and helpful staff. Although the emphasis is on maritime stuff, there is also a lot about the town in general. The best value £3 ever.

What a surprise and what a lovely find tucked away in Lancaster! If you have time you will find the museum having interesting and well documented information about Lancaster's past in the maritime trade. Also with information to bring the exhibit up todate with new technology. I was told that the museum was orginally an 18th century custom house designed... More

A superb way to learn about the slave trade and all sorts of port-related things. Really interesting information.

Great place to go and see what life was like living near the river and near the sea in Lancaster and Morecambe "back in the day". We actually went there with the grandchildren by accident on a wet day, but we were all glad that we did. Cant "BIG IT UP" enough.

This museum has some lovely model ships downstairs and an old rowing boat which enhance the historical displays and explain the great history of the old port of Lancaster. Upstairs, there are further exhibits including a beautifully made mock up of a packet boat on the Lancaster Canal. You can go inside, sit and relax and listen to audio memoirs,... More

Came on this little treasure on the heritage weekend, entrance was free, what a shame no one was visiting, we were the first visitors and that was 1pm. It was a lovely museum, very well set out, well worth a visit, use it or loose it.
