We were fortunate to have Lilian as a guide to this lovely building and the artefacts and stories of five Jewish immigrant families. The museum is small and therefore a few hours will give you an appreciation of the Jewish culture in Manchester

An interesting and welcoming venue no matter what your religious interests are. It provides an insight not only into the Jewish faith but also the patterns of migration into Britain. Have also attended a wonderful concert there.

This museum is in an old Synagogue, small but definitely worth a visit, especially if you check that there will be a volunteer there on the day to do one or both of the "Tours". We turned up at 2.30 on a rainy cold afternoon, and Diane, that day's volunteer, did the tour about faith and the actual synagogue with... More

Although a small museum, in a former synagogue, this is really worth a visit. Our guide was amazing, illustrating the life of 5 local people, and explaining the history of the Jews in Manchester. Well worth a visit.

Visited with my partner, we had passed it many times but decided to go in and see it. We were not disappointed, full of history and mind extending knowledge.

Small, not many things to see. It is worth 4.48£ of visiting. Been asked to wait for a guide who never appear. Never again!!!

The Manchester Jewish Museum is based in the old synagogue which was built in the Moorish Revival style by the noted Manchester architect Edward Salomons in 1874. Although it is far from being the largest or most magnificent of the world's many Moorish revival synagogues, which include the opulent Princes Road Synagogue in Liverpool, it is considered by architectural historian... This former Spanish and Portuguese synagogue is a short walk from the city centre, along Cheetham Hill Road. It's a fine example of Victorian architecture, heavily influenced by the Moorish style. Although small, it has an ornate Ark, where the Torah scrolls are stored and some beautiful stained glass windows. Free guided tours are offered every day. We took two,... More

A beautiful former synagogue for Cheetham Hill's Sephardic Jewish community. The exhibits are primarily of Jewish life in Manchester since the mid-19th century. Would really recommend having one of the excellent guides take you round the building. The museum hosts events from cookery for the family to evening recitals, so you may also find something of interest in their event... More
