Not much variety. Would love to see more modern works in addition to their current exhibitions. Easy to navigate though unlike a lot of other galleries.

Smallish permanent collection but a wide selection from medieval times onwards. Temporary exhibitions often excellent - Annie Swynnerton in particular.

What can you say about an art gallery... not too big so you can always find the exit, seating to rest the legs and gaze at the art and some actually nice exhibitions. It’s free so worth a visit.

Walk if the weather's nice - 15 minutes top. But the tram is a wet-weather option.
