My wife and I visited the Marche every day they were opened. We were especially delighted to have our breakfast (petite dejaunier) at the 1924 cafe. Yves and his staff were friendly, engaging and attentive. We thought we discovered the best breakfast location in Colmar....More

We love food halls and markets, and Marche Couvert is a real find. It is great spot for people watching and eating food that the locals eat. It also is centrally located so that you can easily visit the other sights in Colmar. Even if...More

This was a great find. Nothing that out of the ordinary for France, we suppose, but for Brits on search for originality and craft then this is it.

We were at the markets everyday during our 5 night stay in Colmar, during the Christmas period. Unfortunately some of the shops were closed but what was open was brilliant, so many fresh food to choose from and all at great prices. Cheeses, meats, fruit,...More

Went to the market for a toilet and lunch stop. It is still a vibrant place seeing the locals doing their daily marketing routines here while in the midst of tourist crowd. Had a lunch break at one of the cafe, the price were reasonable...More

The indoor market's history is better than the market itself. Farmers and merchants arrived by boat along the canals to sell their wares at the market. Today there are several stalls and a few restaurants selling mostly foods and a few wares.

Nice place to stop and eat something typical french (les escargots, the snails or oysters, for example) but nothing spectacular.

Is one market day in Colmar any more special than another? Are there any handicrafts for sale? We will be there at the end of May. Thank you!

Not to my knowledge. It is primarily food stalls ( fantastic ) and small eateries. My wife did buy some nik naks so there are a couple of that type of thing, nothing too exciting. The fish stall has a nice special of 6... More
