About
The « little Venice » is the name given to the course of the Lauch in Colmar. This name probably came from the original line of the houses on both sides of the river, which serves the southeast of the city. This district starts behind the Koïfhus, goes through the fishmonger's district and to the bridges Turenne and Saint-Pierre. It is therefore at the beginning of the Krutenau, whose etymology refers to places of market gardening on the outskirts of the towns. Originally inhabited by a rural community of wine-producers, market gardeners and boatmen, the Krutenau stretches out around the Turenne Street that the marshal took in 1674 for his triumphant entry in the city. Boat rides are possible there.

Excellent destination. We visited the zoo, where we spent 4 incredible hours without realizing it, we went to the aquarium which is very large and impressive, the trenoupolis which is amazing, the water museum, the most beautiful and unique parks, the botanical garden, we walked through the fairy-tale and colorful city, the food unique and the prices affordable and we discovered 200 dwarf sculptures hidden in the city. It was all amazing!!! A unique experience

This area of Colmar with canals and half-timbered houses overlooking it is certainly charming and quaint. It is worth a visit from the water with the characteristic boats passing under po tinelli so low that you need to bend over.
Very suggestive at Christmas especially with the evening lighting

Super nice little town. It's not very big, but you can spend the day and get lost in its streets and shops. We hired a boat tour right there and it is very nice to see the houses from another perspective, it cost us 9€ per person.

I was in this neighborhood with my girlfriend on a day trip to Colmar. It is the most iconic and picturesque area of the Alsatian city. The characteristic colorful houses crossed by the navigable canals recreate a small Venice. Bridges are the best places to take beautiful photographs but many tourists flock to them so you have to take turns. In some places you can get on boats to turn along the waterway. Among the streets you will find many shops and clubs offering Alsatian specialties. A place not to be missed in Colmar.

This is one of the interesting places to visit while sightseeing around the historic city centre of Colmar. It is where an attractive stretch of the River Lauch winds past a picturesque series of houses and scenery. There are a couple of bridges you can stop and take nice pictures as well as flat-bottomed boat rides that feel a bit similar to the gondola experience down some of Venice's smaller canals.

Proud to be Alsatian, we travel through Alsace and get to know it in depth. The buildings from a historic era are typically designed and give our region its charm. I look forward to coming back at Christmas with the decorations. The city is very popular with tourists.

A good and convenient way to see the town's highlights is to take the 30-minute canal ride. The price per person is 8E. It's a small wooden boat with about 18 passengers. We pass under many low bridges. There's a bit of drama as we approach the low bridges. The boatman speaks in English as well as French. It was a wonderful to take a short cruise. As we passed another boat full of German visitors, I called out, "Wie gehts!"

The area known as Little Venice is considered the main tourist attraction of this pretty Alsatian town. It is an old working-class neighborhood, inhabited by farmers and fishermen, characterized by the presence of typical and colorful half-timbered houses, arranged along the picturesque canals that cross it. The area is not very large but a short walk inside it still offers truly unforgettable and characteristic views. Always very crowded with tourists, in this area you can find many typical restaurants and several small shops; you can also make small boat trips on the canals. A place that absolutely deserves to be seen.

A very pleasant surprise this French village that is a real charm. Super photogenic and colorful. This little Venice is more like Bruges, and it has nothing to really envy you. Canals, flowers, multicolored houses, cobblestones, boat trips and a very rich architecture resulting from the whim of time and the different flags that were raised by these hills: a Dutch time, sometimes French, of the German empire and now French. Triple border client zone that brings diversity. It can be reached by car and left in a parking lot very close to the tourist area. It is a short walk, you do not need to spend the night to take a great memory and you should not miss it if you are nearby. Highly recommended and unforgettable.

The small town is very pleasant, perfect for spending a morning and having lunch there, and also getting to know a little more about the Alsace region, for example, going to Riquewhir. Colmar is not just a lovely place to take photos, the city really is complete with this fantasy city appearance. Very quiet and peaceful.
