It is right beside the cathedral. Very old and magestic. We did not go inside, it seemed to be closed on the Tuesday we visited, not sure why. We had not intended to go inside the museum anyway

Spent a short time here on a rainy afternoons. Only had time to do the Arts Deco... I think we would have enjoyed it much more if we had not just toured Versailles. What we saw was was beautiful. But as our French is limited as was the directional signage, and no one that worked there seemed to understand English,... More

Good, but not much to see. Creaky floors, couldn't go to the upper gallery (stairwell blocked). Some very nice paintings from 19th century but overall I'd rather spend more time walking around the old city.

I so wanted to go into this place I wanted to see where Marie Antoinette lived! and where Napoleon stayed. Did I misunderstand all of this?? I got there and I could see no boards as to where I needed to go. So I went through a door nothing seemed to be happening when a guy popped out of nowhere... More

We toured the Musee des Beaux Arts and were truly overwhelmed with several paintings in the museum. First, there are no electronic wires or metal rails to keep you back, away from the painting. This was so surprising since one could get nose-to-nose with Raphael and Leonardo masterpieces. Leonardo's The Virgin, The Infant, and St. Anne was truly impressive. (To... More

Wheelchair access is to the ground floor decorative arts sections only and these were rather disappointing.

This historical palace now houses 3 museums, which are for some reason sold separately though they are in the same place. From the Arts Decoratifs, I can say that this was quite some palace. Many rooms were reminiscent of Versailles, including one suite that looked like a King's chamber. Unfortunately there is not much furniture on display. The layout is... More

The Palace is an interesting structure with a grand history. The museums that it houses (musée archéologique, musée des beaux arts, musée des arts décoratifs), although are worth the visit (all three for a measly €12, for senior citizens €6) and house many am interesting piece of art, they have some deficiencies that tarnished my experience. The musée archéologique (basement... More

It's worth noting that the Strasbourg Pass gives you free entry to just one of the 3 museums here in the Palace. We just visited the cardinals suites/decorative arts museum and loved it! It's amazing seeing places where the famous Napoleon and Josephine once stayed, and the beds they slept in, gives a more tangible experience. There are guides in... More
