One of the most important institutions in Europe, it’s fitting that its home is close to the EU Offices.

An impressive construct by the celebrated Richard Rogers, it has been headquartered here since 1998.

It is stunning architecture — a court building with a futuristic look sitting on a riverfront property. Too bad this reviewer forgot that courts are not open on weekends.

As for the surroundings, it’s picturesque, with European Parliament just across the tramway. Much more unusual is the relative lack of complaints and billboards outside of a court. The barriers on the tram station had been occupied by only one aggrieved complainant. (See pictures of green placards.) One would have thought the ECtHR / CEDH would have attracted many more of these complaints signage.

The modern building can be very inviting, but to get there is pretty difficult if you don't have a car. The surrounding of the building is better not to mention.

It is hard to believe that such an important institution is located in such an ugly building. Nothing to see except recognizing its existence.

Visited the Court to watch a hearing in the form of an Assemblée with 17 judges. A fascinating case and admirable professionals, from the judges to the translators! We then had a question and answer session with two of the juristes who work at the court which was very informative and inspiring. A great morning.

We took a look at the Court of Justice from the outside as part of our visit to Parliament. An interesting building made of two symbolic "cans".

The headquarters of the Council of Europe is located in Strasbourg. On the opposite bank of the Il River is perhaps its most famous institution - the European Court of Human Rights.
