It’s worth a visit if you like history. Nicely laid out. But, while there is a guide book available in English and Japanese (possibly other languages) I’m sure I missed out on so much information, as all the exhibits are in local language. Nothing in...More

Maybe it was our annoying English-speaking guide who skipped us around the museum, but we would have enjoyed it more without her. The museum has wonderful artifacts, pelota/jai alai baskets to Basque cemetery headstones, and art depicting ships and the history of the culture. There...More

The guide was awesome but the museum itself was not that interesting for student company. If you want to learn about ‘pays basque’ then this is the place for you but if the topic is not interesting for you, I would not recommend this museum.

The two special exhibitions on Basque art in the civil war period and the tour de france are very special. The whole is really worthwhile and well worth a visit.

Unfortunately there are no signs in English. But they do have an informative English handbook which is easy to follow. If you know any Spanish you will be OK. The B&W movie from the early part of the 1900’s is worth watching beginning to end....More

Small, local and very well done museum. We had a local guide on a Rick Steves tour which greatly increased our understanding of everything. Those who are interested in learning about Basque history and culture, especially local to Bayonne, will get the most our of...More
