We enjoyed wondering around this town, full of historuc streets, old timbered buildings and many little shops. The walk along the river was very pleasurable with views of the cathedrals, bridges, biots, swans and city views. We travelled in early January so it was dark...More

First, go to the parking area on the opposite bank of the Yonne with a wide angle lens on your camera, to capture the amazing views of the old town on the other bank. There are some steep streets, but the town is small, well...More

The old town of Auxerre is quite small and easy to walk around with lots of beautiful old and well preserved buildings. Lots of interesting little shops in the little alleyways. Pedestrian friendly with markers to point you to all the places worth a visit.

Vielle Ville is worth a stroll around the beautiful old town of Auxerre. There is much to discover here from lovely old buildings to cafe's, shops and restaurants, not to forget the people watching.

If you are near by this is definitely worth visiting. We found a large public parking lot near the center of town, found a map at the tourist office and spent a lovely afternoon walking around. Several nice churches. lovely clock tower and medieval buildings.

Lovely old buildings, meandering streets. The massive churches and abbey dominate the sky line. We used the booklet available from the tourist office or many hotels "In the steps of Cadet Roussel" as a wonderful self guiding tour (Dijon has something similar). As in many...More

Wonderful town with old beam buildings. Great shops for clothes, shoes, chocolate , wine whatever! Friendly people in stores. Go to tourist information center, obtain map that has the walking trail and explanations of each site. Husband even got hair and beard cut!
