This is my third visit to this famed museum and the best. Last time we came with my wife, was 15years ago and we are just amazed at how great the redesigning of the whole museum is a huge success.
Beyond the museum exceptional unique wealth (medieval paintings collections, dukes of Burgundy tombs, painting collection spanning from the early XIVth to contemporary art) that goes back to the great duke art collections, the way every painting, sculpture, tapestry and piece of art has been set is just wonderfull. the 3hours walk we had from the beginning tothe end of the collection was just a fantastic experience due to the remarkable paintings hanging, the clever comments (both in French and English) and the light that flows into the museum. Without any doubt, a great among the best art museums in France and Europe that count so many. A MUST SEE whenever in Dijon....

The Musee des Beaux-Arts de Dijon has free admission, but just for the permanent collection. If there are special exhibits you will have to pay an entrance fee to see them. This is a moderately sized museum that you can tour within a few hours. Medieval art dominates the collection though it is balanced out by other time periods. Be sure to check in at the front desk as they want to check your bags and add which country you are visiting from into their database.

Beautiful museum with tons of art to see. I liked specially the room with the tombs and all the painting from the middle ages. There were some nice furniture too. Even the collection of modern and contemporary art is very tasteful. The museum fills brand new, like the national museum of a major European country. On a side note, make sure that the prices in the gift shop are the real ones. I want to buy a souvenir but when I was about to pay, the price was higher than the one marked.

Spent the whole Sunday morning with the family visiting this very well organised museum, which before was the residence of the local dukes. 3 floors exhibitions, with several paintings, sculptures, and even the graves of two of the dukes. All of the above is for free, and for a very small price we bought a nice game (like a game of the goose with a booklet of enigmas and a box of coloured pencils) for kids to discover the museum. Highly recommended

Free entrance to this informative museum containing various forms of art and telling the region's history as well. Be sure to get the audio guide which is helpful. The museum covers a number of eras and is located inside part of the Duke's Palace so it's a great structure to walk through. Gift shop located at the end. There are stairs and lifts for visiting the various floors. Nice tour.

A great space for a relatively small collection of art. It’s worth the visit. I focused on the Impressionist wing. Minor work by the major artists of this genre. What made it so fascinating was the major work of the less well known artists. Finally saw the Francois Pompon’s Polar Bear, I think.

Exept for tuesdays the museum is is open and entrance is free. The audiophones give all the stories, so you dont have to read. Many paintings from the middel ages. Two great gold painted altar pieces. Great hall with the highly decorated grave monuments of teh dukes. In a small room are the wooden models of the statues from the Puit of Moses.
The museum is rather warm inside. Good toilets and storage for back packs and umbrella's

This newly renovated museum is both a beautiful building and a well curated collection of art. Do not miss the Mourners, tomb sculptures surrounding the tombs of the first and second Burgundian Dukes. The museum has wonderful interactive displays in English.

Stunning museum in a stunning building. There was a wide time period covered from ancient Egyptian artifacts to modern art. It was fabulous to be in the beautiful building, and the museum is large but not overwhelming. Best part is it’s free!

This is an amazing art museum, enhanced by its recent remodeling. It focuses on the region of Burgundy though its scope is much wider with archeological remains from Egypt, a decent collection of early Italian painting, an exceptional set of Swiss works, artefacts and paintings from the Renaissance, and two oustanding works that were ordered by the then powerful Dukes of Burgunday. These are the two remarkable altarpieces by Jacques de Baerze and Melchior Broederlam and of course the Tombs of the Dukes of Burgundy. Allow plenty of time.
