Arriving at 17.20, we were refused entry on the grounds that the ticket office had closed at ...17.20. As the closing time of the museum is announced at 6pm, we tried in vain to negotiate in the face of rigid staff. This museum is not that big and we are committed to leaving at 6pm. We were 5 people in this case. Deplorable

We spent an interesting hour in this beautifully-designed small gallery and very much enjoyed its Calders and Picassos, and Legers, in particular. The building itself is a poem of modern design in an ancient building, and the terrace with sculptures is a charming space. The person who greeted us was very pleasant and we were really glad to have visited.
The only suggestion we might make is that there were only 5 of us in this extensive and impressive collection on an early September afternoon (ie still in the 'season') We're keen gallery-goers and hadn't heard of it, we only visited because our Hotel Proprietor thoughtfully recommended it to us. So maybe some better publicity and outreach to possible visitors who are coming to Vezelay for the Basilica would be a good idea? It's a pity for this little gem to go relatively unseen! The entry price is very reasonable - so get more people in there!

The Musée Zervos is well worth the visit to Vézelay for art lovers, holding a collection of significant mid 20th-century works selected by the late editor of Paris' top arts magazines (from the 1920s-50s). Includes lesser known works by well-known painters like Kandinsky, Miró, and Léger's first large-scale commissioned mural. Beautiful garden with views of Burgundy. Located right on the village's main street.

A great collection of real treasures - from beautiful Cycladic pieces to a huge Fernand Leger mural done for Jean Badovici's house in the village. All in the beautiful old house of writer Romain Rolland.

So might expect not to much in such a small village but the collection has some fine works for a vist. Some Picasso's, Poliakoff, Ernst, Kandinsky, Da Sival, Giacometi, Duffy, Corbusier. Not the most important artworks of those famous names, but still nice to see. Intresting is also the collection of Zervos of archeological findings! As the entrance price is low, it's just fine for a visit.

This is s world-class permanent collection of art from Picasso to Miro. It is an unassuming front entrance and not well marketed, so most visitors miss it. We would have not known if our B&B hostess had not informed us. It is housed on a restored beautiful home, which is part of the allure. An hour is probably sufficient time to see all that is there. If you like art at all, you should visit The Zervos

This is a surprisingly lovely museum of modern art in a great building combining old stones and modern interior decoration. Very friendly personnel.
The only drawback is the lack of information in English.

This is a beautiful gallery/museum with a fascinating collection of early/mid 20th century modern art much of which has a connection to Vezelay itself and the network of artists who visited here during that time. Beautifully curated in a stunning building.

This is a fairly small museum, but they have a very diverse collection of modern art including Picasso, Miro, Max Ernst, and a special collection of Hans Hartung (who I had not heard of before, but liked his work a lot). The architecture of the museum is very interesting, too. The top floor is like an attic with a Picasso collection, and the basement is like a wine cellar with a modern twist. It was not overrun with crowds, either. I'm glad I discovered this museum and took the time to visit.

Gallery named after Zervos, who was editor of Cahiers d'Art in Paris, in a house of his friend Romain Rolland. Nicely cool on hot day. Art is 20th century, surrealist, and other styles, paintings, prints, photos and sculptures. Some Picassos, Ernsts, and known names but with other local or less well known (to British art fans) artists. Good views in nicely rejuvenated attic floors over valley below Vezelay.
