Ten centuries old and still profoundly moving. The ILLUMINATIONS show we saw was outstanding! Quiet, peaceful, historic, enchanting to just gaze at those stained glass windows! Le bleu de Chartres...still knocks me out!

Absolute masterpiece, one of the finest cathedrals in Europe in general and France in particular. Mind-boggling craftsmanship and beauty take my breath away. Enough said.

Every minute in Chartres, after leaving the station (that is under repair) is a blissful pedestrian experience, punctuated by the great cathedral within the town, and its great towers. These "skyscrapers" by modern standards of construction height, are land marks making navigation in the town...More

Strongly recommend the Cathedral and too the Old Town below... winding passages beside the stream. Very tranquil. A few bridges cross the stream making some spots perfect for fotos of the cathedral up high in the background, with subject in middle space and stream in...More

We visited in August of 2015 and it was a bit warm. Mostly we visited the Cathedral, took the small train ride, walked the town and visited shops, and ate at one of the excellent places immediately adjacent to the Cathedral. We enjoyed it enough...More

The ticket office is inside the cathedral. As far as I know, they don't sell tickets on line. There is not that much of a wait to go up. We went at the beginning of June and there was no one there. It is pretty steep climb... More
