Coming from Paris on a one-day visit to Chartres, we could not miss the cathedral. It is just impressive. Take your time to admire the stained glass artwork.

If you have the time and means it is worth the visit. The town of Chartres is beautiful, with a lot less of the crowds than in Paris (Notre Dame). They are currently in the process of cleaning/restoring the sculptures inside the building (as of...More

Chartres is a beautiful town that provides a respite from the business of the crowds of Paris. It can be reached in just over an hour leaving from Gare Montparnasse. The ongoing restoration process is taking the Cathedral back to how it would have looked...More

Hello. You can get on Metro 4 at Odéon towards Montrouge and get off at Montparnasse. There are trains about every hour between Paris Montparnasse and Chartres. Hope that helps!
