An Amazing chapel

This is 10 miles from Chinon, so I cannot understand why TA has listed it under Chinon! It is a beautiful small village. It should, I suggest, be under the village name. However. This is one of 7 surviving "Sainte Chapelles" built by the Bourbon royal family to publicise their descent from the French king St Louis. The most famous... More

The chapel has amazing colorful glasses, telling bible stories. Also the walls are sculpted with bible themes. Nice to stay, nice to view, nice to photograph.

This small chapel is a jewel well worth seeking out for its amazing windows of stained glass. We learned that these were documentations of the life of St. Louis, the king. Skilled depiction of details in vibrant colors. Well worth a visit.

Stunning stained glass in a beautiful chapel - and one of those pleasant surprises you find in the Loire Valley. We took the tour round the chateau, which isn'a amazing, but the guardian of the site was courteous and we enjoyed him showing us round.

Usually one enters a church or chapel to see yet another array of religious pictograms. This Sainte-Chappelle is unique in its depiction of the life of King Louis, from birth to death. One side of the chapel relates the story of his rise to sainthood, with his dual roles between religion and governship. The other depicts his crusades, with ships... More

This chapel has lovely stained glass windows which show the life of St Louis and the stations of the cross. Worth visiting if you are passing. There is also a chateau there, which you can visit but you don't see much of the inside. You can only go in with a tour guide and, unfortunately, we missed the English tour... More

Don't go out of your way, but if going to lovely Richelieu, you might stop by.
