This is a typical ancient European town. It is not big, but not crowded with tourists. The place is perhaps not a tourist attraction by itself, but is quite suitable for busy travellers to stop by and enjoy a relaxing afternoon. I would not go...More

..... hilly medieval town. Worth a detour!! Walk the streets and soak up the lovely shops, friendly people and beautiful views and stone buildings.

It is on a hill and while you can walk up there on cobbled passageways, we drove. It is a challenge to negotiate the very narrow roads, and firstly - one has to go through an archway into the city which is just wide enough...More

I got engaged in a rose garden in Loches, so i'm biased :) Its a beautiful French town, you feel like you've entered another era. I would effeminately go back!

Take 2-3 hours to walk to the 2 castles, churches etc. All slightly uphill with a nice view from the top. Lots of history here as well. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

The cobbled streets lead you to a Church which has a sad tomb for Agnès Sorel, wonderful stained glass windows hold you for a while. Then off to the Donjon - The Castle Keep that was also used as a State Prison. This is a...More

We visited while touring the Loire valley. The town has a Chateau which isn't as nice as many in the area, but the town itself is interesting. It also makes a decent base to see things in the Loire valley area.

The Royal City of Loches is well confined but not for the weak of knees. The hill will end your walking life... The church, the castle, the keep up top are super, the views are to die for but getting there is not a vacation...More

Nice and active little town with a nice castle. The "Cité Royale" is great place to visit. There are good and various restaurants around for all budgets (traditional, local, chinese, Italian, Sushi and so on)
