Principle reason for visiting Tours on the way South, firstly it was a real s*d to find, the address we had was sufficiently vague to be nearly useless, it is in an addition to the church going through renovation, and is almost hidden behind building...More

The museum is undergoing some renovation and is a little awkward to find. But the displays are terrific. The finished work of many different artisans are displayed here, from woodworking, culinary, leather and steel. It is amazing how intricate and detailed some craftsmen make their...More

This is also a place I first visited 30 years ago. It was good to go back and see the beautiful models made by apprentices and master craftsmen of the past. I had also forgotten about the history of guilds that are on show. A...More

This is a museum for guilds. So will find shoes to iron work to building and believe it or not cakes. It is quite interesting for the master craft work and history. It is worth a visit.

This museum of masterpieces from the various craft-guilds of Tours is filled with all manner of peculiar curios. From massive model towers build to showcase a carpenter's handiwork, to finely detailed iron cabinets or lock mechanisms, to elaborate sugarcraft castles and monuments, there are plenty...More

If not for Tripadvisor we would not have found this wonderful museum. It's hidden away down by the river a stone's throw from the heart of the city but not really signposted. It's full of the weird and wonderful, made all the more so by...More
