As you walk in through the gates and walk over the combed gravel, you see a magnificent gleaming immaculate chateau built of white stone. The interior is filled with superb portraits and furnishings with the whole place looking almost as new, so that you almost expect to meet Talleyrand somewhere . There are also various garden walks and a restaurant... More

This is a large chateau that is nicely decorated with furniture etc from the period of Talleyrand. It is very well maintained , in fact one of the towers is being renovated as was the room which held Tallyrand's clothes and medals. We especially enjoyed The King of Spain's bedroom furniture. Lovely view from the terrace but the garden needs some... More

The combination of renaissance toying with castle-building and later, baroque and neo-classical architecture, set in the lovely vast gardens, will not fail to exert its charm. The interiors are exquisitely furnished, mostly in empire style, but there are noteworthy earlier pieces too. Talleyrand, the great survivor, is a presence still. And then the two Spanish princes in exile here under... More

It is listed as a must see in the Michelin guide for the Loire valley. One of the tower is being renovated, otherwise it is a nice castle, but not one of the outstanding ones. Parking is easy located just outside of the castle walls.

Historical chateau, one time home of Tallyrand and family, with an outstanding gallery of portraits, Audio guide is a great help. If you are French or a student of French history, I think you might enjoy this location more than we were able to as we relied on the audio guide for knowledge. The castle had limited explanations of furnishings... More

Great castle with nice setting. The rooms in the upper floor smell a lot of urin. But then you really can feel the original setting.

Not one of the well known chateaux but certainly interesting enough to pass an hour or two if you are in the area. The free audio guide adds interest, it would probably get a lower rating without this. The orangerie restaurant did not look welcoming or inviting so we ate at the Duchesse de Dino at the side of chateau... More

Staying the Loire we went to visit this wonderful Chateau, it truly is worth a visit, with its history going back some many year. Well done France once again for looking after your heritage, so that children can see how people lived and how hard life was

Chose to visit early season. Chateau nice enough, but not fully set out despite full charge. Labyrinth extremely confusing. Gardens nice, but needing a lot of attention especially the Mini farm and sensory gardens. My rate is based upon the charge levied. They could consider a low season charge that would have been more appropriate. Far better options in the... More

This chateau has stunning gardens-- even in November! We really enjoyed the grounds and wish we had more time to visit. The inside of the chateau, in all honesty, was a bit disappointing and run-down. I'd suggest a garden-only ticket if that is an option.
