September visit, so colourful
Sep. 2020
Incredible. We went to visit the Chateau and were amazed by the fantastic gardens, these for me are by far the best I have ever seen. Informative panels explaining the layouts and a nice Chateau to visit as well.

Classic Gardens
Nov. 2019
One comes here to explore the spectacular gardens. So it is mostly an outdoor experience with a classic chateau in the background. The landscape design is classic and continues to this day.

A must-see. Fabulous

I’ve always wanted to see Villandry and I wasn’t disappointed. We didn’t bother with the Chateau just wallowed in the world-famous gardens. They are huge yet intimate because they are divided into rooms and sections. The planting is masterful, the plants are immaculate and the whole visit was an experience. There is a suggested route which we ignored and regretted as we did it afterwards and it makes more sense. Lovely little garden shop selling plants and garden-related goodies. There is a crêperie just outside but we left our car in the (free) car park and had lunch on one of the many restaurants in the little village. It’s just a couple of minutes away on foot. Loved every minute.

The chateau de Villandry has fabulous gardens and a great plan for outdoor visiting. Be sure to have comfortable shoes, a camera and time ahead of you to walk and discover every corner of it

Beautiful Gardens
Aug. 2020
Well worth the hour or so drive to Villandry. The gardens were magnificent and only €25 for a family of 4. As the car parks were busy we were expecting queues but found we only waited a few minutes and the grounds themselves were quiet. We spent about 3 hours pottering around following one of the suggested route walks but didn't go into the chateau as we'd visited others. The car park opposite was completely full and we recommend the one just a hundred metres or so before. It is also free and has more shade as well as picnic tables in the adjoining park. You cannot picnic in the gardens so this is a handy spot if you've brought your own lunch along.

Possibly the Best Gardens in the Loire Valley!
Aug. 2020
We were on our way to Langeais when we passed through Villandry and decided to stop and visit the chateau and gardens - we are so glad that we did! Each chateau has something to offer - architecture, history, stories - but Villandry has the most amazing gardens. The Ornamental Garden and the Kitchen Garden are both huge and formal. Whilst the former is not unique, the latter is very unusual in both scale and pattern. It was a riot of colour in August, and obviously changes throughout the year, but definitely worth seeing. We just turned up on the day and paid - no waiting around.

Impressive Gardens
Jul. 2020 • Couples
Visited there whilst visiting family in Courleon. Most impressive gardens with a vast variety of plants, herbs, vegetables and water features. Château itself was very interesting - very similar to National Trust properties in UK. Very reasonable entrance fees. Very strange visiting a tourist attraction where everyone wears a mask - strange times.

Always love visiting Villandry Chateau and Gardens
This was my 4th visit to the Chateau. Mainly for the beautiful gardens, the best in the region from my perspective. The chateau tour is pleasant and may be better with the audio tour, but did not choose this. It’s has a good representation of it history and of course the views of the garden from the chateau rooms and the old fort are gorgeous. Would like to visit the gardens in late autumn to see how they are developed through the seasons. So will go back. It’s always a great place to take visiting family and friends. Highly recommend it. It makes a nice half day trip including lunch locally.

Best garden of any castle

Worth to go there even if not as large as Versailles but much better in shape and maintained. The Garden tour is approx 90 min taking pictures all the time.

The garders are amazing
Mar. 2019
We went in March and would suggest waiting another month for everything to be in bloom. But it was still impressive. The gardens are a 5 star review easily. However, the interior chateau was a bit underwhelming. The chateau is using its upkeep on the gardens and the interior wasn't that well maintained. Still, if you're in the Loire Valley, you must see the gardens.
